The October meeting of the Spokane Homeless Coalition will be Thursday, October 3rd, 9:00AM at The Gathering House (corner Garland & Post). In addition to all of the activity and attention surrounding homelessness vis-a-vis the current election season, two additional and important items are on the morning’s meeting agenda:
1. Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), the Spokane YWCA will lead us in viewing their new documentary, “End The Violence.” We strongly encourage you to come and be a part of the discussion.
2. Hepatitis A and Norovirus. The Spokane Regional Health District will update us on the current Hepatitis A outbreak (5 months and 24 cases so far), along with preparations for dealing with any potential Norovirus outbreak. With an early and possibly long winter season unfolding, forcing people off the streets and into shelters & close quarters, health issues among the homeless community could loom large, and now is the time to get a handle on it.
We look forward to seeing everyone this coming Thursday, October 3rd, 9:00AM at The Gathering House (corner Garland & Post). NOTE: The Coffee Bar at the Gathering House is still out of commission, so grab a cup of your favorite brew before you come. Then come early for great networking.
