High Priest and Sacrifice

Hebrews 4:14-16 (ESV)

Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Such a glorious promise, that we have the ability to approach the Throne of Grace with confidence. This is because of the perfect sacrifice, offered by our high priest, Jesus, the Son of God. We are promised mercy and grace to help in the time of need.

Our high priest also intercedes for us with the Father. Since God is timeless (outside the constraints of time), the sacrifice Jesus offered (Himself - the unblemished Lamb) is effective yesterday, today, and forever.

Jesus spent time on this earth, was tempted by the devil, yet won the victory for us. Hallelujah! He has won the victory. So as you spend time this weekend doing whatever it is you are doing, take some time to Praise and Worship our Creator and Redeemer, Jesus. Worship, not just in church, but all the time. We can worship in more ways than just in church. In fact, the worship God wants is a broken and contrite heart, giving of yourself to others. So find some way to give of yourself, and make that your offering.
