Meditate on God's Word by Virgil Stripes
Psalm 1:1-6 (ESV)
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.
As we end this work week, and begin to make plans for the weekend, let us remember this passage of Scripture. Let us delight in the Law of the Lord, and meditate on it. I saw the movie Fiddler on the Roof when I was in 5th grade. I was attending Sacred Heart Catholic School in Klamath Falls, Oregon. We took a field trip from school to watch the movie in the theater. Yes, I am that old...
Anyway, I always loved Tevye, played by Chaim Topol. I loved the way he connected with God. While he never seemed to hear from God, he managed to have a conversation with Him all day, everyday. I have always tried to emulate the same type of relationship. It would be great if God would speak with me, but other than just guiding me in ways that show He is active in my life, He seems quiet. But I will not let that stop me. I keep on talking to Him, and maybe someday He will actually answer.
There have been a few times in my life, that the Lord has shown me in ways that made perfect sense to me, that He is in control of my life. He has quietly guided me to bring me to where He wants me.
What about you? How has God led you in your life? Do you talk to God all day, like Tevye? Share your thoughts, by logging in. God bless you this weekend.
