Teach me something Tuesday
Every successful sports team goes into a game with a GAME PLAN. They plan out the things they are going to do to try winning the game.
Most of us have made some game plans in life. Some of us have set a game plan for our careers, how much money we want to make, how far up the ladder we want to go. Some of us have set a financial game plan to buy a house or for our future and retirement. Some of us had a game plan for our families, when we got married, how many kids, where to live.
It is a good thing to develop game plans in life, they help guide us, especially when big issues arise. In those difficult times you don’t want to be flying by the seat of your pants.
As Christ followers to be successful in our spiritual lives we should have a game plan. How many of us have set a Spiritual Game Plan on where we are in your walk with Christ and where we want to be in a year, ten years?
God has a plan for us, Jeremiah 29:11 (NASB) 'For I know the plans that I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.
Don’t you think we should have a plan too?
What I mean by that is “How am I going to glorify God and advance His kingdom in my daily life, in my marriage, in my family, in my church and my community?"
Many marks success in how much money you make or how much stuff you have. But God defines success in a very different way. In 1 Kings 2:3, David tells Solomon this before he dies: “Keep the charge of the LORD your God, to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His ordinances, and His testimonies, according to what is written in the Law of Moses, that you may succeed in all that you do.”
God defines our success in obedience to him.
Are you doing everything that you can to follow Him with all you heart and soul? What is your spiritual game plan? What is the next step in your plan, maybe joining a Gathering Group, starting a family devotion time, spending more time in prayer?
