Monday Morning Coffee Break
I have been thinking this morning about yesterday’s message. It’s funny how we all want to experience God’s grace and blessings but often struggle with accepting it. For me, I wasn’t sure what a new life in Christ would look like, what would change. Change is never an easy thing.
John 5:6 (NASB) When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, "Do you wish to get well?"
That seems like a strange question for Jesus to ask a man who has been sick for nearly forty years. "Do you want to be made well?" Dah, of course I do. But Jesus never asked a foolish question, therefore it was obviously important. It is entirely possible the man did not “really” want to be healed/changed. Some people will go to extraordinary lengths to avoid unwelcome changes in their lives.
Have you ever noticed how beautiful a butterfly is? As you know, a butterfly starts out as a worm and goes through a change process and has no choice in the matter. What if they did? Would we have butterflies today?
God gives us a choice to allow change in our lives or not. God calls everyone to repentance; that is, to change the direction of our lives. A life as a believer is full of change. The question is, “Do we really want that change?” The thing I learned early in my life was, if we don't allow change in our lives, we will be stuck right where we are today.
Hey, maybe you like where you are and don't feel the need for change! Most people don't embrace the change God wants to make out of fear, fear because they can’t see what God sees. It really boils down to, do we trust God with our lives. See, the change process is really a HEART THING. Your DESIRES CHANGE. Our DESIRES affect our ACTIONS, and that whole process is scary.
What is God trying to change in your life today? Do you trust that He has your wellbeing in mind?
